SCOTTISH dual-purpose trainer Len Lungo is to scale down his operation and give up his public licence before the start of the jumps season.
The Carrutherstown-based handler will stay as a permit holder but with less horses.
Lungo, who has saddled about 650 winners, first took out a licence in 1990 after riding 100 winners.
Lungo said: “I don’t plan to be training next winter with a public licence, but I hope to get a permit to train my own horses. Me any my wife hope to spend more time in the Algarve where we have a home and escape the winters.
“I feel it’s time to have a bit more fun having spent a chunk of my life with horses and I’m in my 60th year.”
