MICHAEL JARVIS is hoping All The Aces can make the step up in class in today’s Princess of Wales’s Blue Square Stakes at Newmarket.
The four-year-old was second at Newbury on his seasonal return, before scoring impressively by six lengths over today’s course and distance last month.
That was a Listed contest and he will tackle Group Two company for the first time. But Jarvis is hopeful he can take the step up. He said: “He won nicely two weeks ago and has come out of that race well. This is a better quality race but we are very happy with his condition.
“When you get up to a rating of 115 you are limited to what races you can run in and this is on our doorstep and the ground is good so we thought it was worth taking a chance.
“We think he’s a nice horse but we’ll have a better idea of how good he is after tomorrow.”
The 1m4f contest looks a hot race with the Godolphin team are double-handed with both Campanologist and Schiaparelli.
But one horse who looks to hold solid each-way claims is the Willie Muir-trained Enroller.
The four-year-old is very consistent and will again be ridden by Merseyside jockey Martin Dwyer.
He was fourth to Bronze Cannon in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot last time.
Campanologist finished ahead of Enroller in second that day, but he is sure to be in the firing line again.
Meanwhile Sea The Stars headed the list of 20 entries for the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at yesterday’s latest forfeit stage.
John Oxx’s brilliant colt has already shown landed a Group One treble this season.
The Cape Cross colt has landed the 2,000 Guineas, Epsom Derby and last weekend’s Coral-Eclipse at Sandown – becoming the first horse to do so since Nashwan in 1989.
Aidan O’Brien has a host of entries including Eclipse runner-up Rip Van Winkle. He also has Frozen Fire, Black Bear Island, Freemantle, Golden Sword, Masterofthehorse and Rockhampton.
