AINTREE opens its gates for the first meeting of the autumn next month.
And the Liverpool Daily Post has again teamed up with Aintree racecourse to offer readers the chance to be there for free on October 24-25.
We have three pairs of weekend tickets to give away to three lucky readers for what is sure to be an entertaining and action-packed two days of sporting action.
The only Saturday raceday outside of the John Smith’s Grand National meeting at the Liverpool track is on October 24 and features the Grade Two Old Roan Chase, which since its initial running in 2004 has seen several of the biggest names in racing open their campaign.
Last year the 2m4f contest was won by the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Knowhere in the Raymond Mould colours which were also worn to victory by Bindaree when he landed the Grand National in 2002.
Recent winners of the Old Roan Chase have included dual Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Kauto Star, Monet’s Garden and Impek.
This year’s race is sure to attract a similarly high-class field.
On Sunday is a popular day for all the family, Aintree’s Matalan Freaky Family Funday, where racing is teamed with a day of free themed Halloween entertainment for all ages.
The day features a ‘Thriller’ performance and dance workshops by Britain’s Got Talent dance troupe, MD Productions, along with ‘Shiverpool’ tales, Halloween craft workshops, face painting, fairground rides, fancy dress and magic shows, plus there’ll be opportunities to purchase Halloween goodies in Matalan’s M-Party Halloween shop.
Admission for children is free for the whole weekend and ‘early-bird’ tickets are now available at a special advance price of £16 (standard general admission price usually £19 after October 9).
Two-day tickets are also available until this date at the special price of £20.
Tickets for these days give racegoers access to all public areas, including Aintree’s unreserved grandstand seats.
Tickets can be purchased now and by booking online at aintree.co.uk where purchasers can avoid a booking fee.
Tickets are also available by calling the ticket hotline on 0844 579 3001.
Great deals on hospitality packages are also available within the Princess Royal Restaurant, where kids eat free and hospitality is available at just £79 per person, inclusive of admission badge, three course meal and racecards, call 0151 522 2911 to find out more.
