KIEREN FALLON thinks Sariska is the “one they’ll have to beat” after picking up the ride aboard Michael Bell’s dual Oaks heroine in next week’s Emirates Airline Champion Stakes at Newmarket.
With Jamie Spencer suspended the Irishman will partner the three-year-old filly in the Group One feature on Champions Day at Headquarters. And Fallon has also been lined up to ride Eoghan O’Neill’s Maroon Machine in the Jumeirah Dewhurst Stakes.
The rider is expected to ride Sariska in a work-out this morning and he can’t wait to get on board.
Bell’s filly won the English and Irish Oaks but was beaten by Dar Re Mi in the Yorkshire version.
The Pivotal filly was said to have come into season prior to the race and missed the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe due to fast ground.
She is a 9-2 second favourite with bet365 and Paddy Power and Fallon said: “She’s a class filly and I’ll be praying for rain. She ran a great race at York on ground that was on the quick side for her.
“Dar Re Mi has come out and ran a great race in the Arc, so the form has been franked.
“She’s a filly that travels really well and stays well so I don’t think it (the mile-and-a-quarter trip) will be a problem.
“If she gets the soft ground, she’s the one they’ll have to beat.”
Bell added: “Jamie is suspended so I had a look at the ones who were available.
“A couple had already got rides and obviously a lot of people would like to ride her, but Kieren is top-class and we’re happy to have him.
“He’ll ride her in a piece of work on Wednesday.”
TODAY’S NAP: Castano (5.40pm Nottingham).
