Scottish-based trainer Lucinda Russell is hoping Silver By Nature can go well in Coral Welsh National

LUCINDA RUSSELL believes Silver By Nature is handicapped to run a big race in next week’s Coral Welsh National.

The Chepstow feature on this Bank Holiday Monday has been the seven-year-old’s target since winning the Cumberland Handicap Chase at Carlisle at the start of last month.

Silver By Nature is a 14-1 chance with William Hill, Blue Square, Boylesports and Betfred for the 3m5½f Grade Three feature. Russell said: “He’s confirmed to run.

“He is a stayer and shouldn’t mind the ground and the track.

“His jumping’s okay but he hasn’t had a huge amount of experience but at this stage of his career, when he could still be slightly unexposed, we’d like to have a go at a big race. He could have won a couple more times last season but unfortunately he managed to fall at the last.”
