Trainer Paul Nicholls is eyeing another big prize with The Tother One in Welsh National at Chepstow

FRESH from Kauto Star’s King George VI Chase, Paul Nicholls is eyeing a second big Christmas prize in this afternoon’s Coral Welsh National at Chepstow.

Race sponsors are fearing another battering from the champion trainer if The Tother One can land the Chepstow showpiece and add to Nicholls’s wins in 2004 and 2005.

The Tother One is now a 5-1 second favourite with Coral and Nicholls thinks the eight-year-old, who has finished second in both his starts this term, has a good chance.

He said: “He keeps improving, the other day he was only just beaten by The Package and he was battling all the way to the line having looked unlikely to be in the four at one stage. I don’t think Cheltenham is ideal for him so a more galloping track like Chepstow should suit him.”
