TWICE OVER gave owner Prince Khalid Abdullah another Group One triumph with victory in the Coral-Eclipse Stakes at Sandown.
And now the Henry Cecil-trained colt could bid to add to the success of those carrying the Prince’s famous green, pink and white colours in the Juddmonte International and the Champion Stakes.
Abdullah has already won the English and French Guineas with Special Duty this season, while Workforce romped to victory in the Investec Derby and Byword landed the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Twice Over was only beaten half-length in that race at the Royal meeting.
But the five-year-old made up for the defeat when winning the 1m2f Group One on Saturday by half a length from Sri Putra under Tom Queally.
Queally dictated matters from the turn before putting clear daylight between himself and his pursuers.
The five-year-old stuck gamely to his task and held the fast-finishing Sri Putra and Viscount Nelson.
Twice Over was seventh of 10 runners behind Sea The Stars in the Eclipse last year, but he did win the Champion Stakes and finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.
The 10-times champion trainer said: “It’s great to see him win and whatever anyone says I do think he was unlucky at Royal Ascot.
“Looking ahead there is the Juddmonte International and the Champion Stakes and I would love to win the Dubai World Cup.
“I thought we’d win the Dubai World Cup this year but he was drawn wrong and everything else went wrong, so I’d love to go back there.”
