MERSEYSIDE jockey Martin Dwyer was in hospital last night after a nasty fall at Leicester yesterday.
The 33-year-old rider Martin Dwyer had to be taken to Leicester Royal hospital after being thrown out of the saddle from Red Lite, who swerved left at the finish when seemingly poised to win division two of the Aston Flamville Fillies’ Nursery.
George Margarson’s Speedfit Girl (7-2) won the race, but there was a long delay to the later contests as another ambulance was summoned.
The Derby-winning jockey’s father-in-law, trainer William Muir, said: “He didn’t lose consciousness, which is a good thing and means he didn’t bang his head.
“It looked more like he had damaged his collar bone, he knew everything and knew who the doctor was.
