CHAMPION jockey Paul Hanagan thinks Wootton Bassett has no problems over his stamina for next month’s 2,000 Guineas.
Richard Fahey’s unbeaten colt scored five straight victories as a juvenile, signing off by winning at the top level at Longchamp and also giving Hanagan his first Group One success.
Wootton Bassett is a best-priced 14-1 with most bookmakers for the colts’ Classic behind evens favourite Frankel.
And Warrington jockey Hanagan can’t wait to get back aboard the three-year-old this season as he looks to land a first Classis success himself
The champion jockey said: “I’ve sat on him a few times and he seems in great order, I really am looking forward to riding him again.
“We’re aiming at the 2000 Guineas and I’m not sure what the boss has said, but I think he’ll go straight there.
“He gives you absolutely everything and his temperament is A1, I could put my son on him he’s so straightforward and he just wants to win.
“I don’t think he’ll have a problem with a mile.
“There’s a bit of a question mark because he’s never run over it but I don’t think there’ll be a problem.
“To get my first Group One on him was very special.”
