Donald McCain eyeing Chester Cup bid for Overturn

OVERTURN will bypass Aintree and bid for another Scottish Champion Hurdle victory before trying to land another big Flat handicap in the Chester Cup.

Donald McCain’s seven-year-old won the Ayr contest last season, before a profitable summer in both codes.

He is set to head to Scotland again on April 16. Then he could bid to add the Chester Cup in May to his success on the Flat last year in the Northumberland Plate. McCain said: “Overturn will probably miss Aintree, and could be returning to Ayr for an attempt to follow up last year’s win in the Scottish Champion Hurdle. I am then tempted to have a look at the Chester Cup, a big race that I would love to win.”

Overturn also won the Galway Hurdle last summer, but was seventh in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
