LAST year’s bet365 Lancashire Oaks runner-up Polly’s Mark will bid to go one place better at Haydock this weekend.
The Clive Cox-trained mare was beaten just three-quarters of a length by Barshiba in the Group Two contest 12 months ago, the third time she has finished second on Merseyside.
She has run with credit on each of her starts this season, most recently running behind subsequent Ribblesdale Stakes winner Banimpire at Cork.
“The intention is for her to run. She’s in good form and we know she likes the track,” said Cox.
“She ran well in Ireland last time behind Banimpire, who went on to confirm the strength of the form by winning at Royal Ascot.
“She’s entered at Haydock this weekend too, so we’ll see.
“It’s a hot contest as you would expect but Polly’s Mark is a consistent filly and hopefully she’ll run well again.
“I wouldn’t want to see the ground too firm but Haydock generally do a good job with the ground, so I hope we’ll be OK.”
