John Gosden’s Field Of Miracles set for Blackrock Stakes at Glorious Goodwood

FIELD Of Miracles will head for the Blackrock Stakes at Glorious Goodwood next Thursday, after seeing her form boosted in Sunday’s Darley Irish Oaks.

John Gosden’s filly was narrowly beaten by Banimpire in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot, with the Jim Bolger-trained charge also only just beaten by Blue Bunting in Sunday’s Irish Oaks at the Curragh.

Connections decided at bidding for Classic glory at the weekend with Field Of Miracles, in the hope their patience is rewards at Goodwood next week in the race better known as the Lillie Langtry.

Chris Richardson, managing director of owners Cheveley Park Stud, said: “Now we know why we were beaten in the Ribblesdale.

“The target has been the Lillie Langtry at Goodwood, that’s the plan at the moment. Hopefully the ground will be in her favour as she does need cut in the ground.

“There’s a case for saying she maybe should have run in Ireland but on what we knew before, we thought we’d keep her here and try to achieve big black type rather than be black type-placed, so the Lillie Langtry is the aim.

“She’s a filly we wanted to give a break as she’s fairly light-framed so we wanted to give her time to get over Ascot as she had a hard race.

“We very much consider her, all being well, as a filly to race on next year.

“Like so many of our fillies, we don’t want to push her too soon but we’ll give her plenty of racing experience and improve through the categories.”
