GRANDS Crus could take on Long Run and Kauto Star in the Betfair Chase at Haydock on Saturday. David Pipe has refused to rule out running the six-year-old grey in the first Grade One chase competed in Britain this season.
One of the highest-rated hurdlers to be sent over fences in recent times, Grands Crus made a seamless transition to his new discipline at Cheltenham on Friday.
A decision on whether he will be confirmed for the Betfair Chase will be made on Monday morning.
“He’s come out of the race well and it was a great start for him over fences,” said Pipe. “Whether we confirm him for the Betfair will not be decided until tomorrow morning – I’ll speak to the owners.
“There are options.”
