Hillsborough tribute song Fields of Anfield Road climbs chart

THE song remembering those killed at Hillsborough has climbed up the UK charts.

The Liverpool Collective’s recording of Fields of Anfield Road rose two places in the charts announced yesterday.

The song includes a new third verse to commemorate the disaster’s 20th anniversary. It is now at number 14, after entering the chart in 16th position last week.

Ex-Liverpool stars Kenny Dalglish, Phil Thompson and Bruce Grobbelaar are among those singing on the track.

It is available to buy and download from iTunes, HMV and Tesco.

The song was co-written by John Power, from popular bands Cast and the La’s.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez has urged fans to take the tribute track to number one. He said: “We must never forget the Liverpool fans who lost their lives at Hillsborough.”

All proceeds from the song will be donated to the Hillsborough Family Support Group.
