Having only arrived in the city three days ago, Henry said he was still on the look-out for a decent restaurant selling Bolognese but admitted his love of cheeseburgers.
He joked that he had only had time to visit John Lewis to buy a towel which was “exceptional”.
He said: “I loved playing The Fonz, he has been the foundation of my life, he bought me my house and put food on my table. But if I wasn’t an actor I’d work with children as a child psychologist . . . and one of my greatest regrets is turning down the part of Danny in Grease. I’d done The Fonz and didn’t want to play the same character.
“They offered it to John Travolta, I went home and bought a soda and he went home and bought a plane.”
With a new movie,Running Mates, due out soon, life is far from quiet for the friendly American, but at the moment he’s happy to be in Liverpool.
He added: “I love The Beatles, my favourite song is ‘You’ve got to hide your love away’ I met them all except George and I was a jabbering idiot each time. I wish I was a singer like Bruce Springsteen.”
