LIVERPOOL pupils will be taught about Hillsborough to make sure the 1989 tragedy – and its aftermath – is never forgotten.
Councillors believe the local authority has a duty to make sure the 96 who lost their lives are remembered by future generations.
Bosses are looking at how a “unique, sensitive, and challenging educational resource” can be developed.
It is intended to reflect the aims of the national curriculum, so it can be used in city schools and beyond.
The idea is being spearheaded by former Lord Mayor Cllr Steve Rotheram, who was at the forefront of last year’s 20th anniversary commemoration.
He stressed the resource would be developed in consultation with all the support groups and Liverpool Football Club: “Now we have a huge opportunity to get the message out to a new generation,” he said.
