And the Brazilian said: “Our away form has been really good. We have scored a lot of goals and won a lot of games, but the main disappointment for us this year was drawing too many games at home.
“We knew that could be the key and cost us at the end of the season and unfortunately we were right. We dropped too many points against teams who came to Anfield playing really narrow and deep.”
The win was overshadowed by an on-field bust-up between Jamie Carragher and team-mate Alvaro Arbeloa.
But goalkeeper Pepe Reina believes the spat was little more than another example of Liverpool’s winning mentality.
“It just showed our mentality and our motivation to win the game and not to concede a goal,” said Reina.
“It is normal and it can happen on the pitch so let’s forget it.”
Meanwhile, Liverpool have accepted a six-figure bid from Swansea City for winger Paul Anderson.
The 20-year-old spent this season on loan at Coca-Cola Championship side Nottingham Forest, but was at Swansea for the entire previous campaign and played a lead role as they won the League One title.
Forest are also in talks with Liverpool about securing his services but Swansea now look set to hijack any possible move to the City Ground.
