There appeared to be little danger when Voronin picked the ball up 20 yards out but he worked his way into space and fired a low shot inside Sunny’s near post.
It was the Ukrainian’s first goal in a red shirt since he returned to Anfield after a year on loan at Hertha Berlin.
Unlike the wholesale changes he’s made in previous pre-season matches this summer, Benitez opted to make just three alterations at the break with Peter Gulacsi taking over from Cavalieri in goal, Emiliano Insua replacing young Spaniard Mikel San Jose at the back and Albert Riera coming on for Babel.
While Singapore, in reply, brought on talisman Indra Sahdan, a striker who had scored 26 goals in 102 appearances for his country.
That haul included high profile strikes against Manchester United, Uruguay, Japan and Denmark but there was never any chance of the outspoken Liverpool supporter adding to that rich list yesterday.
The second half was a procession as the physical demands of chasing shadows took its toll on the home side.
Ngog and Benayoun went close again before half-time substitute Riera doubled the lead on 53 minutes.
Mascherano’s cross was expertly controlled by Riera, who brought it down on his chest before lashing a wicked left-footer past Sunny.
That goal only briefly silenced the deafening calls of ‘We Want Torres’ and the delirious supporters got their way on the hour as the Spaniard was one of seven subs introduced.
And the striker nearly made an immediate impact by scoring with his first touch but Baihakki Khaizan nipped the ball off his toe.
In fact it was fellow substitute Dirk Kuyt who made the biggest contribution – creating Liverpool’s final three goals.
On 73 minutes he raced down the right and picked out Nemeth, who produced a cool side-footed finish.
Despite the speculation over a move to Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso came off the bench for what could still prove to be his last appearance in a Liverpool shirt.
But the roar for his arrival was eclipsed 11 minutes from time when Nemeth and Kuyt combined to hand Torres the simplest of tap-ins.
Kuyt then provided the cross for Nemeth to head home the fifth, a well taken bullet header from the centre of the goal, as Liverpool signed off their Asian adventure in fine style.
