DANI PACHECO’S superb injury-time free-kick secured a 1-0 win for Liverpool Reserves against Burnley at Prenton Park last night.
The win was John McMahon’s side’s fourth in a row and moves them up into a share of top spot with Manchester United and Manchester City in the Barclays Premier Reserve League Northern Section.
Liverpool were on top for much of the match but they couldn’t secure the vital goal until the dying minutes as they matched United’s similar 1-0 at Everton 24 hours earlier to join them on 12 points.
United have a better goal difference and Liverpool are second.
Burnley had manager Owen Coyle in their line-up, who decided to make up the numbers for the Clarets’ second team.
The 43-year-old played up front and proved a handful for Liverpool centre-backs Daniel Ayala and Stephen Darby.
Liverpool made much of the running throughout though with Nathan Eccleston and Daniel Ayala both going close in the early stages.
