JAVIER MASCHERANO has hailed Liverpool’s fighting spirit which has seen the Reds come from behind to win games four times already this season.
Mascherano, currently on international duty with Argentina who face Uruguay and Chile in World Cup qualifiers, was delighted with Liverpool’s latest comeback win over Manchester City on Sunday.
And the 24-year-old midfielder believes the Reds never say die attitude will stand them in good stead as the campaign draws on and insists this Liverpool team never knows when it is beaten.
“It is good to win games when you have been losing because it shows that you have a good spirit and a togetherness,” he said.
“We always believe that we can win games no matter what the situation is because you have to have such belief when you are at a club like Liverpool.
“On Sunday we had a feeling that if we got one goal we would be back in the game and that is exactly what happened, so we are all very happy.
“Now we have to look towards the next game and try to win that one also because we have confidence and we are playing well.”
Mascherano’s words have been echoed by left back Fabio Aurelio, who believes Liverpool should always have confidence in themselves because of the quality of players in the Reds squad.
"We knew we were not out of the game against City," he said.
"They were 2-0 up but when there's 45 minutes left we know we can change a situation like that.
