Peter Crouch: I'd love Liverpool to win the league!

“It will be good to return to Anfield because I have a lot of great memories of the place and the fans were always great with me. The fans really deserve success and I’d love it if Liverpool could win the league for them because they have waited so long for it to happen.”

Meanwhile, Crouch is backing Adams to continue Harry Redknapp’s good work at Fratton Park – even though he knows his new gaffer could not have a much tougher first game in charge.

He said: "Obviously we've got great respect for Tony and Joe (Jordan) having worked with them previously so it won't be too much of a change.

"He will bring in his own ideas and what-have-you but I'm sure that he will be looking forward to getting started and there is no easier test than away at Anfield!"

Crouch added that he did not know that Redknapp was going to leave at the weekend.

"It was a shock to us all but obviously it is always best I think when you've got stability and I think someone to come in straight away and probably someone that we know helps a great deal," he said.

"We know Tony Adams and I think we will all be looking forward to working with him."
