Pepe Reina: Don't fret over Torres goal drought

Pepe Reina

“When he is on the pitch it is more probable >fr 1,8fr 3,8< because he is a great player but we are Liverpool and if we depend on only Stevie there is something wrong.

“He is an important player but the other 10 guys are killing themselves to help him.”

After a second successive below-par performance, having struggled in the goalless draw against Fulham in the Barclays Premier League, Agger admitted the team have to raise their game.

But he stressed the positive was making it through to the knockout stage.

“It was important for us but we could have done it in a better way,” said the Dane.

“It is always our target to finish top of the group but we have to do better than this match. It was not good enough (against Marseille) but we got the result and we have to take the positives out of it.

“We had another clean sheet and that is always important. It is getting better but we don’t keep possession.”

Defender Jamie Carragher said he was still looking to top Group D - they trail Atletico Madrid on goal difference - with one match remaining.

“I don’t know what the manager is going to do in the last game but it we want to finish top of the group,” he said.

“Whatever league you are in you always want to be the best in it.

“It might get slightly easier (if they top the group) but you never know, they are all top teams in the Champions League.”
