LIVERPOOL have five possible opponents that they can be paired with in today’s draw for the first knockout round in Nyon (11am).
They can’t play any other of the seeds who also won their groups, meaning they avoid Roma, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
But they could potentially face Inter Milan, when they knocked out at the same stage last year, or Sporting Lisbon, Lyon and Spanish sides Real Madrid and Villarreal.
Liverpool can’t face fellow English sides Arsenal and Chelsea at this stage and they will also be kept apart from Atletico Madrid, as they have already played them in the group stages.
Group winners: Roma (ITA), Panathinaikos (GRE), Barcelona (ESP), Liverpool (ENG), Manchester United (ENG), Bayern Münich (GER), Porto (POR), Juventus (ITA).
Runners-up: Chelsea FC (ENG), Inter Milan (ITA), Sporting Lisbon (POR), Atlético Madrid (ESP), Villarreal (ESP), Lyon (FRA), Arsenal (ENG), Real Madrid (ESP).
