Fabio Aurelio: Every game is a ‘cup final’ for Liverpool now

FABIO AURELIO has brushed off Liverpool’s FA Cup exit by declaring: “Every game is a cup final now.”

The Anfield side will be out of action in fifth-round weekend following their replay defeat to Everton last week.

But with 13 league games left to play, plus the two-legged last 16 Champions League tie with Real Madrid, their schedule is set to grow in intensity.

They trail Manchester United by two points in their quest for first Premier League title, but the champions have one game in hand.

However, Brazilian Aurelio is confident that if Liverpool keep applying the pressure by building on the morale-boosting victory at Portsmouth last Saturday, United will drop points of their own during the run-in.

“Every game is a final now if we want to fight for the title at the end,” said Aurelio.

“If United don’t lose then they’ll finish a few points ahead, but we still have to make sure we do our part.”

“I don’t think they will get positive results right until the end of the season, plus we’ve also got to go to Old Trafford.

“So, if we keep getting our points we’ll have a chance to beat them.”
