Rafa Benitez keen to raid market for strikers - Liverpool FC latest

RAFAEL BENITEZ is confident he can boost his strikeforce in the summer – and that potential targets won’t be put off by Robbie Keane’s failure to fit in.

The Irishman returned to Spurs in the January transfer window just six months after his £20million move from White Hart Lane as he struggled at Anfield.

Keane couldn’t gel with Fernando Torres up front and was continually substituted by his manager as he failed to live up to expectations.

Although Liverpool have shrugged off this episode by going on to be the Premier League’s leading scorers, Benitez is still keen to bolster his attacking options.

And he doesn’t foresee any issues over players that are fearful of living in the shadow of Torres and Steven Gerrard.

“Obviously it depends on the quality of the players, but I don’t think it is going to be a problem – I think we will manage,” said Benitez.

“We have been working hard identifying players, it is just a question of signing the right ones, but I am confident we will.

“Everyone knows how good Torres and Gerrard are, and they do play very well together. But we have 60 games or so a season.

“That means there are going to be plenty of chances for everyone, so I don’t think it would be a problem.”
