Liverpool FC Rumour Mill: Rijkaard eyes Babel swoop; Defour deal touted; Lodeiro watched; Sharbini targetted; Cana deal mooted

Rijkaard eyes Babel swoop

IT IS reported Galatasaray boss Frank Rijkaard is ready to swoop for his compatriot Ryan Babel.

The sale of the winger-cum-striker should swell the Reds coffers somewhat and help finance the proposed £17m signing of Portsmouth's Glen Johnson.

The young Dutch winger/striker enjoyed a promising first campaign for Liverpool, although he struggled to find his best form consistently last season.

Defour deal touted

Liverpool could pip a host of rivals to sign Steven Defour.

The Standard Liege midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to England in recent months, with Arsenal, Aston Villa and Everton all said to be interested.

However, it is believed Rafael Benitez wants to take the 21-year-old playmaker, who already has 20 caps for Belgium, in a deal which could cost as much as £15million.
