Sort out Alonso’s future – Carragher
JAMIE CARRAGHER has urged Liverpool to sort out Xabi Alonso’s future.
The Spanish midfielder has been constantly linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer but the Anfield outfit have insisted he is not for sale.
Alonso is on the club’s tour of the Far East but played no part in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Thailand in Bangkok as he has a slight ankle injury.
Carragher said: “The feeling within the squad is that Xabi is a top player and you never want to lose your top players.
“Hopefully something can be sorted out as quickly as possible.
“If the club thinks it is in the best interests of the club sometimes you have to do what is in the best interests of the club.
“But that’s a personal matter for Xabi and maybe the manager and the club.
“Sometimes we all go through these situations – well hopefully I don’t – and as I said, I just hope it gets
sorted out sooner rather than later.”
Carragher insisted there was no need to be alarmed by his side’s failure to defeat the Thai national side.
