Dirk Kuyt and Krizstian Nemeth get stuck in
Benitez praised Hungarian striker Nemeth who only came on with half an hour to go but netted with two clinical finishes.
“Krisztian showed his quality in front of goal and I’m pleased for him,” Benitez added. “He was really good two years ago for the reserves and scored a lot of goals but he had some injury problems last year.
“He showed today that he’s a great finisher and a player with a future.”
The squad flew home directly after the game and were due to arrive back in Liverpool at 8am today.
Their next assignment is this Sunday’s friendly against Espanyol in Barcelona.
“We can now rest a little, spend some time with our families and afterwards train again,” Benitez added.
Glen Johnson missed the game due to an Achilles injury and Alvaro Arbeloa appears to be edging closer to the Anfield exit door after he was the only fit squad member not to play any part yesterday.
The right-back is wanted by Real Madrid, who are also chasing midfielder Xabi Alonso.
Meanwhile, Martin Skrtel faces a battle to be fit for Liverpool’s Premier League opener against Tottenham on August 16.
Skrtel is expected to be out for up to three weeks with a hamstring strain, while Nabil El Zhar faces a month on the sidelines after damaging medial knee ligaments.
Both players were injured in last Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Thailand in Bangkok and flew back to Merseyside for scans while the rest of the squad travelled on to Singapore.
