RAFAEL BENITEZ has allayed injury fears over Albert Riera after the Liverpool winger left the field on a stretcher in Oslo.
Riera twisted his right ankle towards the end of last night’s 2-0 friendly win against FC Lyn.
With Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel and Nabil El Zhar already nursing injuries, Liverpool can ill afford another fitness concern with the new Premier League campaign less than a fortnight away.
But Benitez said: “He twisted his ankle, but I don’t think it is serious. We had to take him off, but it is always better to be careful with these things.”
Andriy Voronin and David Ngog were on target, and Benitez added: “There are plenty of positives and you can see the fitness of some players is improving.”
