Academy Football: Powerful Leicester beat young Reds - Liverpool FC latest

LIVERPOOL under-18s went down to their first defeat of the new FA Premier Academy League season when beaten 3-0 by a powerful Leicester City at the Kirkby Academy on Saturday.

Rodolfo Borrell’s youngsters had beaten Fulham in their opening match, but having to give size and age to a big and strong Leicester side proved too much for Liverpool, who ended the match with a 14-year-old keeper, Liam Jacob, in goal.

Leicester were very direct and although defenders Andre Wisdom and Conor Coady battled well, the visitors were comfortable winners in the end.

The match had been fairly even with few chances of note in the first half hour, but Leicester were the more dominant side as the half wore on and took the lead 10 minutes before the break. And it was a double blow for Liverpool as goalkeeper Chris Oldfield was injured in the build-up to the goal.
