LIVERPOOL under-18s were beaten 3-0 at Sunderland in the FA Premier Academy League on Saturday.
Rodolfo Borrell’s side have now lost three of the opening five matches in the FA Premier Academy League campaign so far.
It has been a disappointing start, but currently Liverpool’s side is one of the youngest in the Academy League.
The home side took the lead after just six minutes when Ryan Noble gave Liverpool keeper Deale Chamberlain not chance when firing in from the edge of the six-yard box following Adam Mitchell’s pass.
Soon after it was 2-0 when Mitchell cut in from the left and his shot took a deflection and fly past Chamberlain.
Liverpool had made little impression on the Sunderland back four during a one-sided first half.
After the break, though, Borrell’s side came more into it, but they couldn’t create enough clear-cut chances to get themselves back into the match.
But on 72 minutes Sunderland sealed the win when Noble was sent through on goal and he guided the ball past the outcoming Chamberlain.
Liverpool almost grabbed a consolation late on, but Sunderland keeper Ben Wilson superbly tipped over.
