We’ll take Liverpool FC to Elland back, says Leeds manager Simon Grayson

LEEDS UNITED manager Simon Grayson has warned Liverpool’s players they won’t know what has hit them when they step out at Elland Road this evening.

A 38,000-strong full house is expected when the in-form Coca-Cola League One leaders host the Premier League giants in their Carling Cup third round tie.

Grayson’s side have an enviable home record, having racked up 15 consecutive home wins with the 4-1 triumph over Gillingham on Saturday.

And the Leeds manager said: “I am sure Liverpool won’t be looking forward to it.

“I know that they play regularly in front of 45,000 but our fans can be very hostile and create an intimidating atmosphere.

“I think our players are thriving on that and love playing at home and hopefully that will continue against Liverpool.

“I am sure all the players who come into their team, regardless of who they are, will have played in big games, whether in Europe or in the Premier League. I’m not sure they’ll realise what Elland Road is about.

“They might look at a League One team and think ‘we just have to turn up to get a result’. But I’m sure when they walk out at 20 to eight, with 40,000 in the place, they will know what a hostile atmosphere is all about.

“It’s a big test but there will be a fantastic atmosphere and it’s a challenge for the players to say, ‘Look we want to get back to playing these sort of teams on a regular basis in the next three years’.”
