Fernando Torres keeping eye on Premier League prize - Liverpool FC latest

BEFORE every game, it is the same. Moments before kick-off, like a hunter eyeing up its prey, Fernando Torres slowly crouches and gazes intently at the opposing goal.

“I don’t know why I started to do it,” says the Spaniard. “But I like to see the other end and the people in the stand behind the goal.

“I always do it before the games. I like to see the other players with the keeper. I try to see the goal and try to think where the ball is going.”

So far this season, Torres is proving he has more than just a vivid imagination. With eight goals in seven Premier League appearances, the Liverpool man has silenced the doubters following a lacklustre opening few weeks.

Indeed, these are good times for the striker. Torres married his long-term partner Olalla earlier this year before the couple celebrated the birth of their first child, daughter Nora.

He may give defender’s sleepless nights, but the Spain international is having no such problems.

“It is a really nice time in my life,” says Torres. “I am enjoying it. My baby will be growing up in Liverpool so we have another Scouser.

“I don’t think fatherhood has changed me. I am the same. I spend more time with my wife and baby.

“It is difficult the first month. You are aware of everything, worried about everything but it is not a problem. It is really nice to live this experience and at the same time focus on football.

“And I can sleep. I am really lucky because she is really nice!”
