The weekend also saw a number of Liverpool’s international star on duty including defender Daniel Agger who turned in a 90-minute performance for Denmark against Sweden.

Though one international fixture saw the return to full health of an Anfield player, England’s 1-0 defeat in Ukraine will have left fans worried as Steven Gerrard was replaced at half-time with a thigh injury.
In the same match, right-back Glen Johnson played the whole game in Dnipropetrovsk and Andriy Voronin was on the bench for the hosts.
Striker Fernando Torres was also forced off with an injury in Spain’s 2-1 win against Armenia after 55 minutes.
Goalkeeper Pepe Reina completed the full game but Albert Riera was an unused substitute.
Ryan Babel was brought on in place of Dirk Kuyt after 50 minutes of Holland’s 0-0 draw in Australia whilst Martin Skrtel could not prevent Slovakia losing 2-0 to Slovenia.
