JOHN ARNE RIISE has backed Liverpool to bounce back from their poor run of form and challenge for the Premier League title.
The former Liverpool defender said: “I saw the game against Lyon and see most of them and there’s no doubt they are going through a tough patch, four losses in a run is not common.”
The Roma defender added: “They will bounce back, they have a good squad but when you miss key players its not easy. (Steven) Gerrard and (Fernando) Torres are important to them but they will bounce back and the championship isn’t over yet.
“I think Liverpool have got a great squad. Most big teams rely on their best players, but when you go through a tough patch you need your players fit. But they will change.
“Mr Benitez is a tactical manager and he will find a solution and hopefully Gerrard and Torres will come back quick.”
Riise and his Roma team mates face Fulham in the Europe League tonight with boss Claudio Ranieri refusing to rule out an eventual return to the Premier League.
The former Chelsea manager is back in London to face Fulham in the Europa League and scheduled a visit to Stamford Bridge to see his former club face Atletico Madrid.
Chelsea fans still hold him in high regard after he was sacked as the Roman Abramovich reign took shape - and the Italian will not close the door on coming back to England later in his career.“If it wasn’t for Roma, there were chances to come back and manage an English club,” he said.
