LIVERPOOL defender Jamie Carragher has launched his new young people’s charity, The 23 Foundation, at his Cafe Sports England restaurant.
The Liverpool defender set up The 23 Foundation at the beginning of this year to provide grants to young people on Merseyside.
The 23 Foundation, which takes its name from Carragher’s shirt number, aims to give children a better chance in life.
Carragher said: “I’ve got kids myself and I hope I can help young lads and girls like people did for me when I was growing up.
“I’d like to think that maybe if I put something back, we’ll have someone else going on to play for Liverpool or Everton.”
Carragher, who is the club’s longest-serving player, wants to donate money from his testimonial to the charity. For more information visit www.23foundation.com.
