Liverpool grabbed the clinching second on 55 minutes. Adorjan traded passes with captain Conor Coady before firing in low from just inside the area.
Afterwards the match threatened to boil over at times. There were not too many scoring chances but there were several full-blooded challenges that tested the patience of referee Mike Astley.
In the end, though, the two goals were enough to secure Liverpool’s passage into the fourth round.
