One report today said sources close to the 26-year-old have suggested the Reds’ hierarchy had mismanaged the contractual side of the deal and been ‘fussy’ over contract details.
Further reports at the weekend claimed Chamakh would now prefer a move to the Emirates.
However, Gunners boss, Arsene Wenger has played down speculation ahead of tomorrow night's Premier League game against Liverpool.
He said: "I believe he (Chamakh) is talking to many clubs which he is entitled to do, we are just focusing on the [Liverpool] game.
"He is free to sign wherever he wants."
