Liverpool FC latest: Fernando Torres may make shock return for Manchester City showdown

Glen Johnson remains sidelined with a knee injury, leaving only Philipp Degen or young duo Martin Kelly and Stephen Darby to fill the position.

Degen has started only three Premier League games this season while Kelly and Darby are yet to make their full debut in the top-flight.

Meanwhile, the agent of Milos Krasic has dismissed claims suggesting the CSKA Moscow forward will join Liverpool in the summer.

Reports in Russia this week suggested that Krasic would arrive on a free transfer after his representative, Dejan Joksimovic, travelled to Merseyside.

But Joksimovic said: “I was in Liverpool to sort out a transfer. But not for Krasic, for Milan Jovanovic, the Standard Liege forward who has signed a three-year contract with the English side and will start playing there this summer.

“Krasic is not signing for Liverpool, and hasn’t even held talks with them. Everything is just rumour so far.”
