GOOD NEWS has not been in abundance this season but Pepe Reina and Javier Mascherano being close to agreeing long-term deals definitely fits into that bracket.
As far as I am concerned, Mascherano has been the player of the season and he was a revelation when he played at right-back last Sunday; he made such a difference to Liverpool’s attack.
But it would be wrong to overlook Reina. I made the mistake of overlooking him for my star man against Blackburn and he didn’t even make my 1-2-3 but, on reflection, that was so wrong; the save he made from Christopher Samba said it all.
He has been a phenomenal signing for Liverpool. Teams are built from the back and Liverpool have an out-standing base in Reina.
