Liverpool youth end season with 10-game run

LIVERPOOL youth ended their season with an excellent 4-0 victory at Huddersfield on Saturday.

Rodolfo Borrell’s side made it 10 FA Premier Academy League matches unbeaten as they finished the campaign with one of their most comfortable successes in Yorkshire.

Despite a difficult playing surface Liverpool coped well and were on top throughout.

Former Southend striker Michael Ngoo has been in sparkling form over the past few months and he opened the scoring for Liverpool with his sixth goal in the last eight matches and his eighth of the season.

Captain Conor Coady, who made his reserves team debut last midweek, made it 2-0.

In the second half another of Liverpool’s in-form attackers Tom Ince scored twice.

Ince made it seven goals in the last eight matches with his double.

The Reds are currently due to finish in fourth, 10 points behind Group C winners Manchester United.

They will end the season in that spot providing Wolves fail to beat Blackburn in the final Group C match today. If Wolves win they will drop to fifth.

Although the season has been tough at times, an excellent end to the campaign means they can look forward to next year with great confidence.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Andre Wisdom and captain Coady have been named in John Peacock’s England Under-17s squad for the UEFA European U17 Championships in Liechtenstein.

England are in Group C along with the Czech Republic, Greece and Turkey. They open their campaign against the Czech’s on next May18 , followed by Greece on May 21 and Turkey on May 24.

The top two nations in each group qualify for the semi-final where they will face either France, Spain, Portugal or Switzerland.
