Rafael Benitez’s attutude to me was the reason I left Liverpool FC, says Chelsea new boy Yossi Benayoun

YOSSI BENAYOUN has launched a stinging attack on former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

The 30-year-old Israeli international midfielder says the Spaniard was his main reason for leaving Anfield earlier this summer when he sealed a move to Chelsea for a fee believed to be between £5.5-6million.

Now, for the first time Benayoun has spoken out at his unhappy time with Liverpool saying under Benitez he always expected to be on the bench – even after he had played well.

Benayoun believes his confidence was left in tatters under the guidance of the now Inter Milan manager but is hoping for a new start at Stamford Bridge.

“I made up my mind to leave a long time ago because of Benitez. He never treated me with the respect I deserved,” Benayoun said.

“If I played well, I never felt he gave me credit.

“When I scored, I still expected to be out of the team the next game.

“And when the fans wanted me to play, Benitez told me he couldn’t understand why.
