West Brom boss Robert Di Matteo confirms interest in Liverpool FC's David Ngog

West Bromwich Albion manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed his interest in Liverpool FC's David Ngog.

Di Matteo is keen on taking the Liverpool striker to the Hawthornes on a season long loan deal and is now waiting to see if Hodgson can spare the Frenchman.

“Yes, Ngog is a player we are interested in,” said he Italian.

“But most clubs wait until the end of July and the beginning of August before deciding on which players they might loan out.”

Hodgson is unlikely to sanction Ngog’s departure until he has cleared up Fernando Torres’ situation at the club.

If Torres were to leave Liverpool this summer, Ngog would be the only out-and-out striker available to Hodgson.

Dirk Kuyt and Jovanovic can both play up front but Hodgson will want to know all the options open to him before authorising any deal with West Brom.

Liverpool will find out their Europa League fate today when the third round qualifying draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland at 12.30pm.
