Liverpool FC striker David Ngog’s tribute to ‘clever’ Alberto Aquilani

LIVERPOOL striker David Ngog was keen to deflect the praise after netting both goals in the 2-0 Europa League win over FK Rabotnicki.

The young Frenchman was delighted with the service he received from Italian Alberto Aquilani.

“It’s very good for me to score, but the most important thing was to win,” he said.

“We did well and it is good for the confidence of the team, but nothing has been decided yet. We still have to play the second leg.

“My first goal came from a free-kick when I saw some space beyond the defender. Lucas played a good ball towards me and I was lucky to finish.

“Kelly did really well for the second goal too and gave me a great cross. We played well in attack and it was nice to link up with Aquilani.

“He’s a really good player and I enjoyed playing with him. He is very clever and has a good quality of pass. He sees the game well.”

Boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed Joe Cole will make his Reds debut in tomorrow’s friendly with Borussia Moenchengladbach.

Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher will also be given their first outing of pre-season.

“Yes they will be involved,” he said. “It’s a friendly so I can control the amount of time they play.”
