Kenny Huang
“We thank the many Liverpool fans who expressed support for our efforts and wish the club great success in the years to come.
“I am now considering my future options and will be making no further comment at this time.”
Huang did not mention his reasons for withdrawing from negotiations to buy the Reds.
Christian Purslow, Liverpool’s managing director, said earlier this week the club were assessing a number of takeover offers.
It was reported Huang became frustrated with how long the club were taking to assess up to five bids.
Huang’s bid was believed to be around £325m and he had pledged to give Kop boss Roy Hodgson funds to spend in the transfer market and clear the club’s debts.
James McKenna, spokesman for the club’s supporters’ union the Spirit of Shankly, last night spoke of his frustration.
Mr McKenna told the ECHO: “The news about Kenny Huang pulling out leaves fans asking the same questions that they have been asking for the last few weeks and the last few years – ‘What is going on inside our football club?’
“Fans need information about the boardroom and about this takeover. Now that he is walking away fans are going to want to know why.
“These questions of potential owners need answering and until fans get answers then the situation does not change.
“A potential investor and the current boardroom need to remember just how important supporters are to this football club.”
