RYAN BABEL is ready to revitalise his Liverpool career as a striker after being given assurances by Roy Hodgson of more regular appearances in his favoured role.
Babel has reiterated his belief that the arrival of the new Anfield manager has given him another – and perhaps final – opportunity to realise his full potential at the club.
The 23-year-old has endured a frustrating time at Liverpool since arriving for more than £11million from Ajax back in July 2007.
Babel was strongly linked with a departure on transfer deadline day but mooted moves to West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur failed to materialise.
The Holland international was rarely given a run-out in his preferred striking role under Hodgson’s predecessor Rafael Benitez.
However, Babel netted the winner when pressed up front against Trabzonspor in the 1-0 Europa League qualifying play-off victory at Anfield.
And while acknowledging Fernando Torres will be first-choice in attack, Babel is determined to make the most of the improved openings he has been promised in an advanced role by Hodgson.
