DAVID AMOO’S two goals gave Liverpool Reserves their first Barclays Premier Reserve League win of the season as they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers at Prenton Park last night.
John McMahon’s side had drawn their opening two matches but the clinical finishing of the 19-year-old Londoner gave them all three points last night.
Liverpool took the lead after two minutes with a superb move finished off by Amoo. Danny Wilson's clever pass fed Tom Ince, who in turn spread the play to Suso on the left wing and from his excellent low cross Amoo fired in from just outside the six-yard box.
Ince then fired straight at Wolves keeper Wayne Hennessy after being set up by Suso.
Liverpool’s fine start to the match continued and they were 2-0 up after just eight minutes.
Amoo scored at the second attempt after Hennessy saved his first effort from Irwin's cross.
Nathan Eccleston‘s cross-shot dipped just over the bar and also fired a volley inches off target from Amoo’s cross.
Hennessy saved from Suso's free-kick and also palmed away Irwin's volley after Jonjo Shelvey had set him up.
It was all Liverpool in the first half and Amoo fired wide when in search of his hat-trick.
The visitors were better after the break with Ashley Hemmings and Louis Harris both going close.
Liverpool were not quite as dominant and were glad that keeper Peter Gulacsi was alert to stop Nenad Milijas's header.
Suso and Eccleston both went close before Wolves substitute Geoffrey Mujanji-Bia's hit the bar with a long-range effort.
LIVERPOOL RESERVES: Gulacsi, Darby, Robinson, Irwin (c), Wilson, Wisdom, Amoo, Shelvey, Eccleston, Suso, Ince (Bruna 81). Subs: Flanagan, Bouzanis, Roberts, Palsson.
