ACADEMY FOOTBALL: Raheem Sterling’s doubles up to keep Liverpool under-18s unbeaten

RAHEEM STERLING continued his and Liverpool under-18s’ excellent start to the season with two goals in a 2-0 victory at Leeds United on Saturday.

The winger fired two second-half goals to give Rodolfo Borrell’s youngsters their third FA Premier Academy League win and kept up their unbeaten start to the season.

The 15-year-old winger, who signed from Queens Park Rangers earlier in the year, has been one of several attacking players at the Academy in fine form. But while in previous matches he has been very the provider for the likes of Toni Silva, Michael Ngoo and Krisztan Adorjan he grabbed his first gals of the season.

Despite playing well and domination for the much of the first season Liverpool saw Matty Regan’s header ruled out in the first half and failed to make the breakthrough until after the break.

But Sterling opened the scoring on 50 minutes when he fired home the rebound after Roberts shot from Ngoo’s cross came back off the post.
