LIVERPOOL stalwarts Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard are confident a couple of victories will put a different perspective on the current situation at Anfield.
The pair have seen more than their fair share of ups and downs during their 20-plus years at the club and insist things are not as bad as they are being portrayed.
Even in defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford there was not a huge gulf between the two sides and Liverpool’s current 16th place in the Premier League is undeniably a false one. At this stage last season the club had also suffered two defeats – against Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa – and beaten Stoke City, Burnley and Bolton Wanderers.
The start this time around has been much tougher, with two reverses in Manchester already, draws at home to Arsenal and away at Birmingham City and victory over West Bromwich Albion.
But so fine are the margins that had Pepe Reina’s error not handed the Gunners a last-minute equaliser in the opening game of the season Liverpool would currently be only a point off fourth place.
