A LIVERPOOL FC fans group last night warned the club’s bankers and potential buyers that thousands of supporters could land on their doorstep in protest.
The threat was made after up to 7,000 people marched from the Liverpool Supporters Club to the Kop in a show of strength against American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
The march was organised ahead of Liverpool’s dismal on-pitch performance against Blackpool at Anfield.
They lost 2-1 against the Premier League newcomers to remain rooted in the relegation zone.
The result is likely to further fan the flames of anger directed at Hicks and Gillett.
The pair are facing an October deadline to repay a £237m loan to their bank RBS.
If they fail to raise the funds or agree a re-financing deal, the club will cease to be theirs.
But supporters group Spirit of Shankly (SoS), which organised yesterday’s rally, want part ownership to pass to the fans.
